Chemical Engineering Courses

 

Our premier course is the B.Eng. (Hons) in Chemical & Biopharmaceutical Engineering. We also offer options of a full-time or a part-time course, MEng in Chemical & Biopharmaceutical engineering.

Part-time courses available includes a B.Sc. (level 7) in Good Manufacturing Technology and industrial relevant courses known as special purpose awards (SPA) (Levels 6-7).

Bachelor of Engineering B.Eng (Hons) in Chemical & Biopharmaceutical)

This is a Level 8, full-time, 4 year Honours Engineering course, accredited by Engineers Ireland, and by the Institution of Chemical Engineers at Master level.  This quliafications meets the full academic requirements for Chartered Member (MIChemE) and Chartered Engineer (CEng). M-Standard recognises integrated degrees that provide both the solid academic foundation (in chemical engineering) plus the advanced chemical engineering knowledge and skills. This IChemE accreditation of the Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Engineering programme to a M-standard is equivalent to a UK MEng degree which is internationally recognised to this standard. 

With its international and national recognition, our graduates are employed across a diverse range of sectors in Ireland and abroad.  While the majority are to be found in the biopharmachem sector in Munster, MTU’s engineers have been found from Australia to Brazil, from the Gulf of Mexico to Japan. As a graduate, you may be designing a liquefied natural gas plant, or devising methods to manufacture and purify minute quantities of life-saving medicines.  You might be managing the production of products in a highly sterile building, or controlling an oil rig or refinery.

MAsters of Engineering M.ENG in Chemical & Biopharmaceutical Engineering MEng

This programme aims to develop advanced analytical, design and research skills in Chemical Engineering with an industrial focus.  Graduates of the programme will be well equipped to respond to the needs of the high technology industries particularly those with a focus on Research & Development, and product or process innovation.

Part-Time B.sC (lEVEL 7) in Good Manufacturing Practice and Technology

A nationally accredited degree designed to meet the education and training needs of supervisors and higher technicians in the areas of Production, Quality Assurance and Validation in the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Chemical and Medical Device Industries. This Level 7 programme, the BSc in GMP and Technology, is an add-on course delivered in part-time mode, 2 to 3 evenings per semester over 2 years.

iNDUstrial Relevant COurses

These are short courses known as Special Purpose Awards worth 10 credits (Levels 6-7) which cover specialised topics pertinent to the manufacturing sectors of the chemical, pharma, biopharma, medical device and beverage industries. These courses consist of 2 modules (5 credits each) which are delivered part-time,one evening per week, over one academic year. The aim of these career professional development (CPD) courses is to provide valuable knowledge and key skills applicable to work within specific processing environments.
